ieder oogst opnieuw zaad zal moeten kopen.

Monsanto's Bt Cotton Kills the Soil as Well
as Farmers
Biosafety refers to ensuring that
GMOs do not harm the environment or health. The soil, its fertility, and the
organisms which maintain the fertility of soil are a vital aspect of the environment,
especially in the context of food and agricultural production. A recent scientific study
carried out by Navdanya, compared the soil of fields where Bt-cotton had been planted for
3 years with adjoining fields with non GMO cotton or other crops. The region covered
included Nagpur, Amravati and Wardha of Vidharbha which accounts for highest GMO cotton
planting in India, and the highest rate of farmers suicides (4000 per year). In 3 years,
Bt-cotton has reduced the population of Actinomycetes by 17%. Actinomycetes are vital for
breaking down cellulose and creating humus. Bacteria were reduced by 14%. The total
microbial biomass was reduced by 8.9%. Vital soil beneficial enzymes which make nutrients
available to plants have also been drastically reduced. Acid Phosphatase which contributes
to uptake of phosphates was reduced by 26.6%. Nitrogenase enzymes which help fix nitrogen
were reduced by 22.6%. At this rate, in a decade of planting with GM cotton, or any GM
crop with Bt genes in it, could lead to total destruction of soil organisms, leaving dead
soil unable to produce food. The ISAAA in its recent release has stated that there are 7.6
mha of Bt-cotton in India. This means 7.6 mha of dying soils. The impact of GMOs on
soil organisms is not commonly studied. This is a vital lacunae because Bt toxin crops
such as Mon 810 corn or Bt-cotton or Bt Brinjal have serious impact on beneficial soil
organisms. The government of India is trying to grant approval to Bt Brinjal without Bio
safety studies on impact on Soil organisms. The European Commissión is trying to put
pressure on GMO free countries to introduce Mon 810. The Navdanya study the first that has
looked at the long term impact of Bt cotton on soil organisms is a wake up to regulators
worldwide. It also shows that the claims of the Biotechnology industry about the safety of
GM crops are false.

Austrian Government Study Confirms
Genetically Modified (GM) Crops Threaten Human Fertility and Health Safety
Advocates Call for Immediate Ban of All GM
Foods and GM Crops
A long-term feeding study commissioned by
the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety, managed by the Austrian Federal Ministry
of Health, Family and Youth, and carried out by Veterinary University Vienna, confirms
genetically modified (GM) corn seriously affects reproductive health in mice. Non-GMO
advocates, who have warned about this infertility link along with other health risks, now
seek an immediate ban of all GM foods and GM crops to protect the health of humankind and
the fertility of women around the world.
Feeding mice with genetically modified corn
developed by the US-based Monsanto Corporation led to lower fertility and body weight,
according to the study conducted by the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna. Lead
author of the study Professor Zentek said, there was a direct link between the decrease in
fertility and the GM diet, and that mice fed with non-GE corn reproduced more efficiently.
In the study, Austrian scientists performed
several long-term feeding trials over 20 weeks with laboratory mice fed a diet containing
33% of a GM variety (NK 603 x MON 810), or a closely related non-GE variety used in many
countries. Statistically significant litter size and pup weight decreases were found in
the third and fourth litters in the GM-fed mice, compared to the control group.
The corn is genetically modified with genes
that produce a pesticidal toxin, as well as genes that allow it to survive applications of
Monsantos herbicide Roundup.
Video documentary on Monsanto Corporation's abuse of Percy
Schmeiser, one small farmer out of thousands across the globe being terrorized by this
multi-national mega company. Monsanto has head quarters in almost every country, large or
small. They do this to cirumvent the laws that may stop or impead their research. They
also invest countless millions in manipulation of governments and elected officials. To
drive this point home, the top personal of Monsanto were/or currently part of the US
government (FDA, Supreme Court, Sec. of Agriculture, ETC.) Monsanto has started a culture
of scientific manipulation, much like that of buying a common prostitute off the street,
Monsanto "buys" off the universities by way of huge, strictly enforced,
"research grants" worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. If a scientist's
research discover ANYTHING that could adversely affect Monsanto (who supports the
university by their research "grants"), the scientists are told by the
College/Lab/University to immediately stop or "find" a method to support a
favorable result. If they refuse, said researcher is terminated.

The source of our food seeds
is being hijacked by a handful of corporations from the farmers who have for millennia,
grown and saved them. But why should we care about a farmers seeds? Arent
companies developing new seeds all the time? They are -- and thats part of the
problem -- because who controls the seeds, controls our food. More and more, that control
is in the hands of a few multinational corporations whose bottom line is profit for their
shareholders not necessarily an abundance of healthy food. Should anybody, the film asks,
own seeds? Hijacked Future takes us from the grain fields of Saskatchewan, to
farmers and seed banks in Ethiopia, to north of the Arctic Circle in Norway, where the
Doomsday vault is being built to stockpile seeds in the event of a global
crisis. The documentary looks at the increasingly fragile base of our North American
industrial food system in order to bring all of us consumers of food to a better
understanding of just whats at stake with our daily bread. It asks us to question
the wisdom of a system precariously based on oil and corporate seeds while were at
the same time witnessing the impact of climate change. As the film says, It all
starts with the seed, and the stakes are high because who controls the seed,
controls the food Who will control the seeds we plant, and the food we put on our
tables? Will our future be Hijacked?
Monsanto's Genetically Modified
Milk Ruled Unsafe by The United Nations
The Codex Alimentarius Commission, the U.N.
Food Safety Agency representing 101 nations worldwide, has ruled unanimously in favor of
the 1993 European moratorium on Monsanto's genetically engineered hormonal milk (rBGH).
This unexpected ruling, revealingly greeted by the U.S. press with deafeningsilence, is a
powerful blow against U.S. global trade policies which are strongly influenced by powerful
multi-national corporations, such as Monsanto. The Codex Commission ruling has also forced
the U.S. to abandon its threats to challenge the European moratorium before the World
Trade Organization later this year. As importantly, the ruling represents the first large
scale defeat of genetically modified foods on unarguable scientific grounds, apart from
ethical and ideological concerns.
Percy Schmeiser is a farmer from Bruno,
Saskatchewan Canada whose Canola fields were contaminated with Monsanto's Round-Up Ready
Canola. Monsanto's position was that it didn't matter whether Schmeiser knew or not that
his canola field was contaminated with the Roundup Ready gene, or whether or not he took
advantage of the technology (he didn't); that he must pay Monsanto their Technology Fee of
$15./acre. The Supreme Court of Canada agreed with Schmeiser, ruling that he didn't have
to pay Monsanto anything !
The Ban Terminator Campaign seeks to
promote government bans on Terminator technology at the national and international levels,
and supports the efforts of civil society, farmers, Indigenous peoples and social
movements to campaign against it.
Governments keep trying to find ways to
make GM seeds safe and acceptable and they keep failing. They should stop trying. There is
no such thing as a safe and acceptable form of Terminator. The EU should discontinue
funding for research on reversible transgenic sterility, and re-assess funding
for other research projects undertaken by Transcontainer. Rather than support research on
coexistence to bail out the agbiotech industry, the EU should instead fund sustainable
agricultural research that benefits farmers and the public. National governments should
propose legislation to prohibit field-testing and commercial sale of Terminator
technologies. Governments meeting at the 9th Conference of the Parties to the Convention
on Biological Diversity in Bonn, Germany must strengthen the moratorium on GURTs by
recommending a ban on the technology.

Video - Canadians Warn Australia
about GM Canola
Terry Boehm, the Vice President of the
Canadian National Farmers Union, and Arnold Taylor, the National President of the Canadian
Organic Growers Association, held a press conference in the Parliament of New South Wales
on February 4th, 2008 to warn Australian farmers to keep their crops free of genetic
manipulation. They reported on Canada's 12-year experience of commercially growing
genetically engineered (GE) canola. Terry Boehm said, "Since the introduction of GE
canola in Canada, seed prices have risen dramatically and corporate control over farmers
is tighter than ever before. There are constant threats of litigation to the extent that
farmers are complying with company conditions disallowing them from saving seed rather
than using their own because they are scared of being sued." They reported that
contamination from GE canola was inevitable, because there is no way to segregate the
non-GE crops from the GE crops due to wind and insect pollination unless there was a
26-kilometer buffer zone, and that was almost impossible. They said that almost all canola
in Canada is now contaminated, and Monsanto continuously sues farmers which drives them
off their land.
This documentary exposes a vast conspiracy
to contaminate and control the world's food supply through genetic engineering of food
crops. Leading scientists and activists present the facts that you need to know about
genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The methods used to genetically engineer plants are
imprecise and extremely dangerous. Eighty percent of food sold in North America already
has ingredients made of GMOs that have not been adequately tested for safety. This program
presents all the facts about this alarming controversy and and features the most credible
bio tech / agriculture authorities in the world today.
Video - Monsanto's Toxic Milk -
Banned in Europe
Why is American Milk Banned in Europe?
American dairy milk is genetically-modified unless it's labeled "NO rBGH".
Genetically-engineered bovine growth hormone (rBGH) in milk increases cancer risks.
American dairy farmers inject rBGH to dairy cows to increase milk production. European
nations and Canada have banned rBGH to protect citizens from IGF-1 hazards.
Video - The Genetic Conspiracy -
about Monsanto
How safe is the so-called "Green
Genetic Engineering" really? Monsanto, the world's largest genetic engineering
corporation, insists it is safe. Numerous studies claim genetically modified plants can
cause allergies and cancers. However, commercial and political interests are determined to
make genetic engineering the norm.
Video - How to Monopolize Food -
Monsanto Style
Monsanto rose to prominence as one of the
leading chemical giants of the twentieth century, but its focus today is agriculture. a
lot of people think of them for chemicals, fibers, all of those things that the
namethat the company made its reputation on. But below that, in recent years, has
been this remarkable revolution, where they are now an agricultural company, a life
sciences company, and they want to completely put their chemical past behind them, in that
sense, to concentrate on these new areas: genetically modified seeds and artificial
supplements to increase milk production, and so forth.
Video - Franse documentaire toont
Did you know that there are fish genes in
some tomatoes? That Brazil nut genes in soybeans can result in potentially lethal allergic
reactions? That rapeseed plants bred to be resistant to herbicides could become
uncontrollable superweeds? Genetically modified foods do pose real risks, and in recent
years they have become the focus of a pitched battle between scientists, entrepreneurs,
consumer advocates, and environmentalists. Yet despite the great heat generated by the
debate, there is very little real information on the subject, either about the
technologies in use or about the regulatory processes established to protect us from
potentially dangerous products.
Pandora's Picnic Basket explains, in clear
and direct language, the technologies underlying genetically modified food, comparing them
with other "natural" methods of plant breeding and production. Researcher Alan
McHughen evaluates the safeguards in place from regulators around the world and asks
whether these are sufficient. In particular, he examines the question of labeling, held by
some to be an obvious way to help protect consumers, and addresses the honesty and
usefulness of some of these labels. Throughout the book, McHughen offers fair-minded,
well-informed accounts of issues of real concern, particularly environmental issues, and
he outlines ways in which consumers can avoid genetically modified food if they so choose.
The author uses question-and-answer boxes to address key issues and real case histories to
illustrate the development and regulation of genetically modified food.
Excerps from documentary called Patent for
a Pig. Side effects of animals eating GM Food, including sterlization, different milk,
extra NEW proteins. Proteins cause mad cow like diseases. The tests were not pushed
through and not done properly, with corruption to cook the books.
They (Monsanto) are now seeking a patent on
the actual pig. It's an astounding and dangerous claim. The world has allowed this company
to basically own life! If you have not heard of the Monsanto Corporation and you eat food
like most humans on earth, it would be worth your time to research what this company has
done to the world's food sources, supplies and what they have planned.
